Pipal Tree Ventures
Prominent Entrepreneur in the social sector, Santosh Parulekar, Co-Founder and CEO, Pipal Tree Ventures Pvt Ltd (PTVPL), had a dream of creating livelihood for rural youth. Once he realised the construction sector was the way to do it, there has been no turning back for him. It defies economic logic to hear an entrepreneur say, “We don’t want to make big profits.” But then the vision of Santosh Parulekar and his business venture Pipal Tree is to create social good, “not maximise profits.” It is this vision that made Santosh, quit a well-settled career abroad and scour rural India to find and train young boys for free, and within a month, place them in the construction industry where they earn a livelihood. This venture also reaches out to the poor school drop outs in extremist (aka naxals) areas. His organization has training hubs across India and has touched the lives of the rural poor in more ways than one offering them a regular source of income as well as increasing the self-worth of those trained. Pipal Tree currently runs 25 training centers across India. While the main training hub is at Hyderabad (which is a 40,000 sq feet facility on a 25 acre land parcel), other training centers are in AP, Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, UP and West Bengal. Each one can train around 75-200 students each month.
