“Water has always inspired the artist, because freedom is essential to both”. This simple principle is central to Serge Morana’s water design philosophy, the motto of his professional life, printed on every presentation folder of plans and technical brief he prepares for every client.
French Swimming Pools and Spas Designer for over 25 years, a member of the Institute of Swimming Pools Engineers (UK), Serge Morana, specializes in Luxury and Unique Water Projects anywhere in the world. After spending a significant period of his career interacting with clients and site visits, Serge is now able to work through digital platforms and connect with clients from across the globe.
Having worked with developers as a Project Manager, Morana was the former manager of the well-known French Swimming Pools Company, AQUASUD Piscine’s, which won many NSPI Awards (USA) over a ten years period of his association. Following this, he relocated to Spain. This is where he founded a contracting company, Pool Design and Technology. The entrepreneurial vigour in Morana, lead him to further commence operations of his International Consulting Office, Creative Water Design, dealing exclusively with water, its background and its essential role in architectural projects.
Here is a brief dialogue with Serge Morana.
According to Serge,it is the Design process that has made him reach his mark. Serge says, “I am able to create a complete space design, bringing to each project a French Haute Couture Touch to make it really ‘unique’”. He opines, “My working method is built to better suit our times. internet, email, phone, Skype has easily replaced costly travelling and I am very proud to propose to clients, builders, architects, swimming pools or spas design packages that are done for a small percentage of the usual fees.”
When asked, which techniques are the best to make his clients understand the design?Serge explained, “Sketching is an essential part of my design process since most people are unable to visualize a finished project simply by looking at construction drawings. Over the years, I have developed a habit of making sketches the moment I see the terrain; either physically or when I receive some pictures.” He ponders that, “During these moments my inspiration is the strongest.”
How do you manage to take the necessary site precautions while design execution? Serge says, “By helping builders and assisting them in taking the necessary precautions during the building process. A construction site helpline puts every builder in direct contact with me, either by phone or Skype. This service enables any builder to make use of our expertise in the swimming pool and spa construction. The informed locations of the swimming pool and other features in any landscape are crucial to the final effect.”
Outdoor or Indoor swimming pool, spa, hydrotherapy system, fishpond, waterfall, lake or any water feature one has in mind, Serge is willing to take it up as a challenge to invest time and effort by providing his expertise towards bringing this idea to reality. He encourages his clients to propose adventurous concepts which are both, sustainable and exciting. Along with digital advancement, Serge is also a keen supporter of sustainable living, taking into consideration environmental impact, biological water treatment and filtration systems for avoiding the use of chemicals and various technical solutions for reducing water consumption.
Signing off, Serge explains that, “The right solution is not imperatively the most expensive!”
