Maria Isabel Jimenez Leon, obtained her Undergraduate education at Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla. Upon being awarded the Beca para Estudios de Postgrado en E.E.U.U., a research fellowship from the University of Seville, Maria attended Cornell University for her higher studies, graduating with a Masters in Architecture, specializing in the role of Digital Media within Architectural Urban environments.
Maria worked at the Studio of Javier Terrados, contributing on housing, commercial and cultural projects primarily within the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, Morocco and Latin America.
She was one of the speakers at Gallopper Talks, held in Mumbai on Friday, March 13, 2015.
In 2008, whilst in Graduate School Maria, co-established SHROFFLEóN a full service award-winning design firm with a dynamic creative studio and a burgeoning reputation as a professional organization known for its innovative solutions. Maria is currently teaching at the Kamla Raheja Vidhinidhi School of Architecture and Environmental Planning and the Balwant Sheth School of Architecture in Mumbai. Previously she has held teaching positions at Cornell University, NY.
Maria shared her views on some desired criteria at Construction Sites, comparing it to her home country Spain.
She also touched upon ways to making a building truly sustainable, as against ‘getting a LEED certificate.’
